We have had the pleasure of having Tristana Pirkl, a senior at Standford University as a summer intern at the Leadership Foundation.

Here is an article that she has written on "The Value of Diversity":

"As we at Leadership Foundation have stated, diversity includes a wide variety of qualities that are different from an individual or a group but are expressed in other or a group of others. Norway is the host nation of the World Championships in Skiing in 2011. The organizers would like to have a skilled volunteer corps made up of different age groups, gender and ethnic background and to reflect the increasingly diverse Norwegian population. The project "Felles start"(Mass start), has the objective to recruiting 10 percent volunteers with an immigrant background, is well underway.  ( see http://www.oslo2011.no/maal-om-mangfold.4618465-124868.html for more information in Norwegian)

The project is designed to ensure we meet the numbers, 10% of volunteers with immigrant background but also that we ensure that diversity is embraced amongst the entire volunteer corps. Training for the manager and e-learning modules on diversity will be established in addition to a mentor program for new and old volunteers.
The beauty of this project lies in its long-term reach and symbol effect. We will recruit the best and reflect Oslo’s 25% immigrant base and impart key learning on working with and embracing diversity!

Strategies based on goals with a quantitative (representation) and qualitative (portrayal) perspective.

We welcome you to start a dialogue with us, on Diversity in the Media - March 31st from 12-16 in Oslo, Norway!
